Qualifying for unemployment Print E-mail
This unemployment insurance scheme was started in the great depression period. In those days the banking system had collapsed. The factories and mills were getting closed. The unemployment rate was twenty five percent. All this made it necessary for the government to intervene in the economy and give it some sorts of stimulus. Even in those days the farmers were not qualified for this unemployment insurance benefit. The fact was that the economic condition of the farmers was very bad. Many of the farmers had to sell off their farms to pay the debts. The agricultural products had low demand and prices. In spite of being worst hit part of the society, these people could not get any of the unemployment insurance benefits. It is the definition of the unemployed which determines who is qualified for this unemployment insurance benefit. The worker must have lost his job without his own fault. He must be active worker. He must be seeking the work. He should be able to work. All these are conditions for getting qualified for these unemployment insurance benefits.
